About Us

The KNH School of Nursing was established in 1996 and has cut a niche in specialized training for healthcare workers. The School offers Post Basic Specialized Nursing courses and other short courses for healthcare workers. Currently, the school receives students from the East and Central Africa region. All Specialized nursing courses offered in the School are approved by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK). Approximately 250 students graduate from the school each year.

Certificate Courses for Healthcare Workers

  • Stoma, Wound and Continence Care (SWCC)
  • Theatre & Sterile Services Assistant (TSSA)
  • Infection Prevention & Control

Kenya Paediatric Fellowship Program (KPFP)

  • Neonatal Nursing

Admission Requirements

  • KRN/M, KRCHN, or BScN
  • One year working experience post registration (3 years for KNH staff)
  • KCSE 'C' Plain (C- for upgraded nurses)
  • Professional certificates
  • NCK Registration Certificate
  • Valid NCK Practice License
  • National ID/Passport
  • Foreign students must have equivalent qualifications and certificates must be equated by KNQA.

SWCC Course:
  • Qualified healthcare workers with a valid license
TSSA Course:
  • 'O' level with a minimum grade of 'D' plain
Infectious Diseases & Prevention:
  • Qualified healthcare workers

  • Personal statement
  • Updated CV
  • Copies of relevant academic certificates
  • Copy of national identity card/passport

Application Guidelines

  • Attach legible copies of academic and professional certificates, valid practice license, and National ID.
  • Attach an e-citizen application fee payment receipt (Kshs. 1,500/-).
  • Provide an email address and mobile phone number for communication.
  • In addition, KNH staff must also apply through their departmental heads and have served for 3 years.
